The Aeroclub actively promotes Recreational Aviation and has
recently introduced training for the microlight category of Recreational
Aircraft. This supplements Valley Ultralights who successfully
have been providing Ultralight training and aircraft hire at Warnervale
for many years.
There are no special skills needed to obtain your RA-Aus Pilot
Certificate, anyone can learn to fly! As long as you are at least
15 years of age, and have a health standard that meets the requirements
necessary to hold a car drivers license, then you are eligible to
apply for a student license and start your training.
If you are interested in obtaining your RA-Aus Pilot Certificate
for either of these categories of light Recreational Aircraft please
contact the Chief Flying Instructors of the organisations below.
Microlight Training
The microlight category are one or two seat weight shift controlled
aeroplanes also known as 'trikes' or 'powered hang gliders'.
Trikes have a MTOW
limitation of 450 kg and stall speed not greater than 40 knots.
Microlight training at Warnervale is conducted by Skywise Microlights.
The CFI, Luke Carmody has over 30 years experience in weight shift
flying and has trained many hundreds of pilots, many of whom are
Instructors operating schools on both sides of the country.
Training is conducted in brand new Airborne XT912-SST aircraft which
are at the peak of the sport. Come along and try this form
of flying for yourself, it's an experience!

Ultralight Training
Ultralights are essentially regular two seat aircraft that are
limited to having a MTOW of 600kg and a stall speed not greater
than 45 knots. Don't be misled though, many of these aircraft
out perform regular General Aviation aeroplanes and can cruise along
at speeds of up to 120 knots!
Our Ultralight training organisation is Valley Ultralights.
The CFI, Paul Crowfoot before moving to Ultralights had a successful
career as a commercial pilot and is tremendously experienced.
He has trained a large number of pilots at Warnervale including
quite a number of regular GA pilots who have cross trained to obtain
their RA-AUS Pilot's Certificate.
