The weather for the June Competition could only be described as atrocious!
The windsock was horizontal every time I saw it, the rain showers were from slight to very heavy, the cloud base was too low for aerobatics, and it was as cold as charity!!
Only eight starters turned up for the displaced comp (displaced by the long weekend).

The competition was as follows:
  • Normal circuit, turn crosswind at 400ft, be at 1030ft at Sparks Rd. Downwind, 650ft end base at 75knots, 60 knots over Sparks Rd., flare point, the displaced runway marker, main wheel landing.
  • Touch and go into a flapless approach with same circuit criteria downwind, 70 knots from mid base to over Sparks Rd, same flare point as before, main wheel landing.
  • Same circuit, glide approach, 10 degrees of flap on base, full flap over Sparks Rd, same flare point.
  • Touch and go, raise flap while on ground, loose points for balance ball one diameter off centre.

About our Competitions

Club Competitions are held on the second Sunday of each Month.

CCAC also participates in Interclub Competitions.

There is an instructor on board at all times. Aerobatic competitions are also held in conjunction with the normal comps.

Three times a year our members fly out to compete against other clubs. These are great social events and we are proud that we do so well.

The Competition tests your skills on many aspects including:

• Forced Landings • Blind Circuits • Engine Failures
• Short field takeoffs • Navigation Exercises

Flying competitions enhance your skills and make you a better pilot. It's interesting to note that some of the better performers in our Comps are Students!

Please visit our Newsletter page for more details on the last competition.

Student Pilots are most welcome to participate, and usually do extremely well as they are often more current than some senior licenced pilots. Area 99 Area 99 Area 99 Area 99 Area 98 Area 86 Area 80 Area 45 Area 24
